The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across southern India including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana till October 18.
According to the IMD’s latest bulletin, isolated heavy showers are likely in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, while parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and south interior Karnataka may receive intense rain on October 13 and 14.
The department also warned of thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30–40 km/h) across several southern states between October 13 and 16. Lakshadweep may witness brief thunder activity as well.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon continues to withdraw from central and eastern India, leaving most of north and central regions including Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh dry through the week.
Residents in affected areas have been advised to stay alert and avoid non-essential travel during heavy rainfall spells.
