ISLAMABAD – The Health Services Academy (HSA) is rapidly becoming one of Pakistan’s top public health institutions, having trained over 10,000 professionals and expanded its presence to more than 400 districts and tehsils.
According to an HSA spokesperson, the academy is preparing a health workforce that is ready for future challenges, focusing on national priorities like emergency response, governance, and healthcare improvement. “We’re not just training field workers but also grooming leaders in policy and innovation,” he said.
HSA played a vital role during the COVID-19 pandemic. Its trained experts supported the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) by helping design smart lockdowns, vaccination plans, and data-based strategies. In the fight against dengue, HSA alumni led programs for mapping affected areas, community awareness, and mosquito control in major cities, according to The Nations.
Graduates from HSA are also working in underdeveloped areas like Balochistan, AJK, and Gilgit-Baltistan as health officers and program managers. Many are also working with international organizations like WHO, UNICEF, and the World Bank.
The Centre for Executive Education in Health (CEEH), a part of HSA, has trained thousands in hospital management and public health governance, helping improve services across the country.
HSA is now focusing on new areas like digital health, climate change, gender equity, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a strong aim to ensure equal and quality healthcare for everyone.
“HSA will continue to lead Pakistan’s journey towards a stronger, smarter, and more inclusive health system,” the spokesperson said.
