Ten people died in Gaza yesterday after Israeli airstrikes hit two separate locations packed with civilians, according to health officials in the territory. The strikes, which targeted areas where displaced families had gathered to buy food, have drawn sharp condemnation from Hamas, who labeled the operation a “new war crime.”

The attacks hit a market in Nuseirat and a distribution point in northern Gaza. Both areas were crowded with people attempting to secure basic supplies, a daily struggle for the thousands of Palestinians trapped in the crossfire. Witnesses described scenes of confusion as blast waves tore through stalls and temporary shelters, leaving little time for those nearby to find cover.

Hamas released a statement shortly after the strikes, accusing the Israeli military of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure to maximize casualties. They argued that the timing of the attacks—occurring during peak hours for aid distribution—proves a disregard for international law.

The Israeli military has not provided a specific breakdown of the targets, though they maintain that they operate against militant infrastructure embedded within civilian areas. They argue that Hamas uses these locations as shields for their operations, a claim the group consistently denies.

This latest escalation comes as diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire remain largely stagnant. Aid organizations operating in Gaza have warned that the current pace of strikes is making it nearly impossible to deliver food and medical supplies to the north, where famine-like conditions are already taking hold.

For the families on the ground, the reality remains unchanged: the search for food has become as dangerous as staying in the line of fire. With no clear path toward a truce, residents are left waiting for the next strike, with little protection and dwindling hope for a pause in the fighting.
