A committee has been formed to investigate HIV cases at the Social Security Hospital Landhi in Karachi.
According to the notification issued in this regard, the five member inquiry committee will work under the chairmanship of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Naila Zaheer.
The notification stated that the committee will investigate the reported HIV cases at Landhi Hospital. It will verify the number of HIV cases, the affected individuals, and laboratory reports, and will review possible sources of infection, injection practices, and the use of disposable syringes.
According to the notification, the committee will also investigate the procurement, availability, and use of medicines and disposable items. It will compile complete data on the affected children and their parents, while recommendations regarding the identification of those responsible and improvements at the hospital will also be included in the report.
It is worth mentioning that 10 HIV cases had been reported at the Social Security Hospital Landhi.
