KARACHI — Karachi police have arrested a 45-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Arsalan, for allegedly committing an obscene act targeted at women passengers traveling inside a public bus on the city’s busy Rashid Minhas Road.
The incident, which occurred on June 19, 2026, was captured on mobile phones by onlookers. The video footage quickly went viral across social media platforms, sparking public outrage and prompting law enforcement to take immediate notice.
According to police investigators, the suspect had premeditated the act and actively tried to evade identification. Arsalan wore a face mask and deliberately concealed his motorcycle’s license plate before targeting the vehicle. Following the online spread of the video, Karachi police initiated a targeted tracking operation, circulating screenshots of the suspect to local informant networks and analyzing municipal CCTV camera feeds.
Detectives successfully mapped the suspect’s escape route, tracing his transit from Rashid Minhas Road through the Federal B Area, eventually pinpointing his residence in the Jauharabad neighborhood. Law enforcement personnel subsequently raided the location, taking Arsalan into custody and transferring him to the Jauharabad police station, where a formal criminal case has been registered.
Following his arrest, the police department released a recorded video statement in which the suspect confessed to the offense and offered a public apology. However, police authorities explicitly clarified that the recorded apology carries no legal weight in a court of law. Investigators are currently consolidating all available forensic data, including high-resolution CCTV footage from the crime scene, to build a watertight legal case and ensure the suspect faces the maximum statutory penalties.
