Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 98 new dengue cases in the past week, marking the highest weekly number of infections recorded in the province in the last 34 weeks. The rise comes as the province enters a period of high dengue transmission, which is expected to continue until the end of October.
The number of confirmed cases has increased from 87 in the previous week to 98 this week, indicating a significant rise in dengue activity across the province.
Kohat reported the highest number of infections, with 41 cases, followed by Peshawar with 33 cases and Bannu with 10 cases. Other dengue-endemic districts recorded cases in single digits.
Health authorities are closely monitoring the situation as dengue transmission remains high. The increase in cases highlights the need for preventive measures, including eliminating stagnant water where mosquitoes can breed and taking precautions against mosquito bites.
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection that can cause high fever, severe headache, body aches, nausea and skin rash. Severe cases may lead to serious complications and require urgent medical care.
