The Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA) has ordered a fresh review of new school textbooks for Nursery to Grade 5 after several errors were identified in the material prepared for the upcoming curriculum.
The new curriculum was approved by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and is scheduled to be introduced in the 2027–28 academic year. Before printing, the textbooks were sent to education experts for review, but several mistakes were discovered, prompting authorities to send the material back for further corrections.
The review aims to identify and remove errors before the books reach students. According to the Education Department, the process is expected to be completed within one to two weeks.
Meanwhile, publishers have expressed concerns about possible printing and distribution delays. They have urged the authorities to provide the revised textbooks as soon as possible, explaining that the academic year in private schools begins on January 1.
Publishers have warned that delays in receiving the final content could affect printing schedules and potentially leave the new books unavailable until March.
The Education Department has assured publishers that the textbooks will be available in the market before the start of the new academic year.
The development has raised concerns about the review process and the timely delivery of educational materials. Authorities are now working to correct the identified mistakes before the new curriculum is implemented.
