The investigation into the murder of young Kulsoom in Karachi’s Quaidabad area has taken a dark turn, with police confirming the victim’s aunt orchestrated the killing. Investigators say the motive was rooted in a protracted domestic feud that had festered for months.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir confirmed the suspect confessed during interrogation. She reportedly viewed Kulsoom’s presence in the family dynamic as a catalyst for her own diminishing influence within the household.

The incident, which shocked the local community earlier this week, was initially reported as a mysterious tragedy. However, forensic evidence and inconsistencies in the aunt’s initial statements quickly narrowed the police focus.

“She didn’t act out of a sudden outburst,” a senior investigator told reporters on the condition of anonymity. “The planning was deliberate. She manipulated the situation to ensure the girl was alone, then executed the act before attempting to stage the scene.”

Kulsoom’s family is now grappling with the betrayal. Neighbors described the environment in the house as tense, but few suspected the hostility would escalate to lethal violence.

The police have recovered the weapon used in the crime and are currently processing digital evidence from the suspect’s phone, which investigators believe will reveal others who may have been aware of the plot.

The suspect remains in custody. She is expected to be presented before a judicial magistrate tomorrow, where the prosecution will seek an extension of her physical remand to finalize the charge sheet.

For the residents of Quaidabad, the arrest brings little comfort. The case has reignited a grim conversation about the rising frequency of domestic violence cases where the perpetrator is someone from within the victim’s own home.
