KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange remained range-bound on Thursday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index closing at 180,104 points after losing 206 points, or 0.11%, as investors remained cautious in the absence of fresh positive triggers.
According to Ahmed Sheraz of KASB KTrade, trading activity remained strong, with 388 million shares changing hands.
CNERGY remained the volume leader with 247 million shares traded, followed by BOP with 16 million, KEL with 10 million and SSGC with 8.7 million shares.
Market performance remained mixed across sectors. FFC made the largest positive contribution to the index, followed by SRVI and HBL. On the other hand, ENGROH was the biggest drag, followed by SYS and HMB.
Analysts expect the market to remain range-bound as investors await a fresh catalyst. Oil prices hovering around $87–90 per barrel are also keeping sentiment cautious, while the absence of a clear positive trigger is limiting aggressive buying.
The market was scheduled to remain closed on Friday for Independence Day, resulting in a long weekend. Trading will resume on Monday, with investors expected to look for fresh economic, corporate or geopolitical developments for market direction.
