Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rescheduled its planned march toward Islamabad from September 27 to October 4, according to statements by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. The march is linked to PTI’s demands concerning the release of party founder Imran Khan and what the party describes as restoration of constitutional supremacy.

PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Secretary Shaukat Yousafzai described the postponement as a political strategy. He said the federal government had deployed large numbers of police personnel and placed containers on routes leading toward Islamabad, which contributed to the party changing its strategy.

Yousafzai also said that PTI supports a peaceful political struggle and called for practical negotiations between the federal government and the party. He maintained that the government would eventually have to engage with PTI at the negotiating table.

The postponement followed conflicting statements from PTI leaders about whether the original September 27 march would proceed. Afridi later announced that the march would leave Peshawar on October 4, following a decision by the party’s political committee.

Reports about the march have also highlighted security preparations around Islamabad, including road blockages and the deployment of security personnel. The available reports do not establish what the security situation or turnout will be on October 4.

In short: PTI has moved its Islamabad march to October 4, while Shaukat Yousafzai has described the delay as a political strategy and reiterated the party’s stated position that the protest should remain peaceful. The situation remains politically sensitive, with both sides facing pressure over negotiations and security arrangements.
