Punjab Announces Major Pay Raise for Partner School Teachers

In a landmark move, the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) and Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority (PEIMA) have set a fixed monthly salary of Rs. 20,000 for teachers in partner schools — including payment during summer vacations.

Previously, these teachers earned just Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 8,000 per month, often without pay over holidays. The School Education Department has now formally ordered full monthly payments even when schools are closed.

Officials confirmed that the PEF will conduct inspections during the break to ensure compliance, warning of fines or the cancellation of partnerships for delayed or unpaid salaries.

Additionally, all partner schools — more than 10,000 institutions employing over 30,000 teachers — are required to maintain online salary records.

This decision is seen as a step toward improving financial security for teachers and upholding their labor rights, aiming to strengthen Punjab’s education system overall.
