Samsung has started rolling out One UI 8.5 to older Galaxy devices, expanding the software beyond the models that originally launched with it. In its U.S. newsroom announcement, Samsung said the rollout is being extended across the Galaxy ecosystem and specifically named the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, Z Fold6, Z Flip6, Galaxy Tab S11 series, and Galaxy Tab S10 series among the devices included in this phase.
The update is being pitched less as a dramatic redesign and more as a broad refinement release. Samsung says One UI 8.5 focuses on Galaxy AI-powered communication and creative tools, along with usability and ecosystem improvements that carry across phones and tablets. The company also notes that some AI features will vary by device class, meaning not every supported model will get the full identical feature set.
This rollout did not come out of nowhere. Samsung had already expanded the One UI 8.5 beta in recent weeks to more devices, including the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold6, Z Flip6, S25 FE, S24 FE, and Galaxy Tab S11 in select markets. It later widened beta access again to the Galaxy S23 series, Z Fold5, Z Flip5, S23 FE, and Galaxy A36 5G, showing that Samsung was preparing a staggered path toward a broader stable release.
What makes the headline notable is the phrase “older Galaxy phones and tablets.” That is broadly true, but only within limits. Samsung’s official wording confirms the rollout has moved beyond the newest launch devices and is reaching previous-generation premium phones and tablets first. It does not provide a single complete worldwide timetable for every eligible Galaxy model in the public announcement, so broader availability will still depend on region, carrier, and device tier.
