Menlo Park: Social media giant Meta Platforms has announced a significant update to its creator monetization program, lowering the eligibility requirements for earning revenue on Facebook. The move is expected to make monetization more accessible to emerging content creators and help them generate income sooner.

Under the revised policy, creators will be eligible for certain monetization features with lower audience and engagement requirements than before. The update aims to encourage more users to create original content and grow their presence on the platform without needing massive followings.

According to industry observers, the change reflects Meta’s efforts to compete more aggressively with rival platforms by attracting new creators and rewarding high-quality content. As short-form videos, reels, and digital content continue to dominate social media, platforms are increasingly introducing creator-friendly policies to retain talent.

Content creators have welcomed the announcement, saying it could provide opportunities for smaller pages and independent influencers who previously struggled to meet monetization thresholds. Many believe the change will help diversify content and enable more users to turn their online presence into a source of income.

Experts note that while lower entry requirements may help creators start earning faster, success will still depend on audience engagement, content quality, and compliance with platform policies. The update is expected to encourage greater participation in Facebook’s creator ecosystem over the coming months.
