The body of a three-year-old girl was recovered from a sack in the Korangi area of Karachi early Wednesday morning, triggering outrage across the city. Police discovered the child in the vicinity of the Bilal Colony, hours after her family reported her missing.

The girl had been kidnapped on Tuesday evening while playing outside her home. Her father, a laborer, spent the night searching local streets before police were notified.

Initial medical reports from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) paint a grim picture. Doctors confirmed signs of severe physical trauma and torture. Officials are currently awaiting a full forensic report to determine the exact cause of death and whether sexual assault occurred, a detail police are treating with extreme sensitivity due to the ongoing investigation.

“We are looking at all angles, including potential motives behind this brutality,” said the area’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). “CCTV footage from the surrounding streets is being analyzed to track the suspect’s movements.”

Despite the search, no arrests have been made. Residents of Bilal Colony gathered outside the local police station Wednesday afternoon, demanding immediate action and better security in a neighborhood where children frequently play in unsupervised alleys.

The incident highlights a recurring security failure in the city’s industrial hubs. While police have stepped up patrols in Korangi, the family remains in mourning, waiting for the legal process to move from investigation to prosecution.

The girl’s funeral was held late Wednesday. For the residents of Korangi, the discovery is a brutal reminder of the city’s struggle to protect its most vulnerable.
