JARANWALA — A domestic dispute turned fatal in a local neighborhood late Tuesday night when a woman allegedly slit her husband’s throat following a heated argument.

Police identified the victim as 35-year-old Muhammad Aslam. Neighbors reported hearing screams from the couple’s home around midnight, though the severity of the situation remained unclear until the suspect, 30-year-old Razia Bibi, alerted family members to what she had done.

Investigating officers arrived at the scene to find the victim dead in the bedroom. A kitchen knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered from the premises.

“The initial investigation points to a long-standing marital disagreement that escalated,” said a police spokesperson. “We are currently questioning the suspect to establish the exact sequence of events leading up to the act.”

The couple had been married for eight years and shared three children, who were asleep in another room at the time of the incident. Relatives stated that frequent quarrels had become a pattern in the household, though few expected the situation to reach such a violent conclusion.

The body was moved to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police have registered a murder case against the suspect under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

As police finalize the crime scene report, the children have been placed in the custody of extended family. For the residents of this quiet Jaranwala neighborhood, the morning brought only shock and a grim reminder of how quickly private tensions can shatter a community.
