Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho has stressed the need for joint efforts to tackle the growing mental health crisis in Pakistan. Speaking in a video message during the first-ever national mental health campaign, she urged people to call Tele-Tabeeb (1123) for expert guidance and support.
She said that trained experts are ready to listen and help those facing mental health challenges and called for breaking the silence and stigma around the issue.
Dr. Azra thanked the Health Ministry, British Asian Trust, and other partners for their support. She also highlighted the need to include a Mental Health Code of Ethics in health programs and the curriculum for mental health professionals.
She said no single institution can solve the crisis alone and urged government bodies, healthcare providers, educational institutions, media, civil society, and communities to work together to raise awareness, improve access to care, and integrate mental health into primary healthcare.
