LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned of possible flooding as a fresh spell of monsoon rains is set to begin in Punjab from tomorrow (Wednesday). The Met Office forecasts rainfall with strong winds and thunderstorms in northeastern Punjab and the Potohar region.

According to PDMA, medium-level flooding is expected in the Chenab River and its connected drains and streams. Alerts have also been issued for the Sutlej, Ravi, and Jhelum rivers after India released water from the Pong Dam.

Commissioners and district administrations in Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, and other affected areas have been instructed to take precautionary measures. The public is advised to stay away from rivers, canals, and drains to avoid accidents.
