RAWALPINDI – Police have launched a crackdown against 43 individuals accused of blocking a road and raising anti-state slogans during Independence Day celebrations.

According to police officials, three suspects have been arrested while a case has been registered against all involved. The Chaklala police lodged an FIR against three identified suspects and 40 unidentified persons under charges of disturbing public order, obstructing a public thoroughfare, and unlawful assembly.

The FIR, filed by Sub-Inspector Nadeem Ahmed, stated that officers were patrolling in Chaklala Scheme-III when they encountered a group of protesters near the Scheme-III bazaar. The protesters allegedly blocked the road and shouted slogans against the state and its institutions. The report did not mention the affiliation of any political party.

Authorities said further investigations are underway, and more arrests are expected in the coming days.
