Islamabad – September 1, 2025:
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has called for consensus on launching a Kalabagh-like national project, stressing that Pakistan’s future must not be compromised by provincial divisions.

Speaking to the media, Gandapur said such projects should be carried out “for our children, future generations and Pakistan.” He urged that all reservations be addressed to ensure broad-based satisfaction and unity.

The KP CM highlighted the devastation caused by recent cloudbursts and floods, saying rescue operations were underway with limited resources. He added that his government had offered Punjab assistance during its flood crisis, declaring: “Punjab is our brother, and we share in its pain.”

Turning to politics, Gandapur said the release of PTI founder Imran Khan would come either through rule of law or compromise with the establishment. He insisted Khan was standing firm on his ideology and enduring imprisonment for future generations, while PTI remained united behind him.

On Afghanistan’s deadly earthquake, Gandapur said KP had contacted Afghan authorities to offer full support, including rescue teams, medical aid and relief supplies. He stressed that Afghan refugees in Pakistan must not face forced repatriation, urging the federal government to allow at least six months for their dignified return.

“For forty years we hosted them; sending them back without preparation is unjust,” he remarked, vowing that no harassment or raids would be conducted against Afghan refugees in KP.
