Stormy Evening Ahead for Southwest Florida with Flooding Concerns

Residents across Southwest Florida should brace for another round of evening storms on Tuesday, with heavy rain and frequent lightning expected in parts of the region. Meteorologists warn that while not every area will see rainfall, storm coverage is likely to remain high through the evening hours. Some slower-moving cells could lead to minor flooding in low-lying neighborhoods before conditions ease after sunset.

Daytime highs remain locked in the low 90s, with overnight temperatures dipping into the mid-70s. Most mornings this week are expected to stay relatively dry, but afternoon and evening hours will continue to bring the best chance for rain. The region is about three weeks away from the official end of the rainy season, keeping storm activity fairly typical for this time of year.

Out in the Atlantic, Hurricane Gabrielle continues to churn as a powerful Category 4 storm. Forecasters say it poses no immediate danger to land as it tracks toward cooler waters, where it will likely weaken and lose its tropical characteristics. Still, the system underscores an active stretch in the tropics.

Two additional tropical waves are also under close watch. One is expected to deliver heavy rain and gusty winds to Puerto Rico before curving north later in the week, while the second, farther east, has a strong chance of developing into a tropical depression. Despite this activity, forecasters emphasize that no systems currently threaten Florida directly.
