Security sources have confirmed that Muhammad Ehsani, alias Anwar, a senior commander of the militant group Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), was killed in Afghanistan’s Mazar-i-Sharif region.
According to intelligence reports, Ehsani was a key facilitator of the 2022 Peshawar Kocha Risaldar mosque bombing, one of the deadliest attacks in Pakistan’s recent history, which claimed 67 lives.
Ehsani was also believed to have played a central role in transporting Tajik suicide bombers into Pakistan and overseeing their training. His death is being seen as a significant blow to ISKP’s cross-border terror network.
