KARACHI : Pakistan’s transgender community has announced that the third annual Hijra Festival will take place in Karachi on Saturday, October 25, 2025, with participants expected from across Pakistan and around the world.

The announcement was made by the festival’s organizing committee — comprising prominent transgender activists Kami Chaudhry, Dr. Sarah Gill, and others — during a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club.

According to Kami Chaudhry and Dr. Sarah Gill, the Hijra Festival will be held at Burns Garden, Karachi, starting at 2 p.m.
They shared that this year’s festival theme focuses on environmental protection, under the slogan:

“We stand for our identity, dignity, freedom, and our planet.”

The transgender leaders highlighted that the community is also affected by the environmental crisis and therefore stands in solidarity with the global movement for climate action.

They said the purpose of the festival is to provide the transgender community with a day of joy and unity while raising awareness about their social causes and rights.
They clarified that the event is not against anyone, but aims to promote love, acceptance, and harmony.

Kami Chaudhry and Dr. Sarah Gill expressed gratitude to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, city administration, Sindh Police, and other institutions for their continued support in organizing the festival.
