KARACHI – A case involving the illegal transfer of $850,000 from a citizen’s digital wallet while being allegedly held unlawfully at Karachi Airport has reached the court.

According to details, the affected citizen has written letters to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Sindh High Court, and senior police officials, complaining that the Airport Police refused to register a case, forcing him to approach the court.

The citizen stated in his letter that a lower court has directed SSP Malir to appoint a DSP-rank officer as the investigating officer to conduct a fair inquiry. He further alleged that the accused individuals have threatened him and warned of tampering with CCTV footage related to the incident.

The letter added that the Airport SHO recently showed him clips of CCTV footage on a laptop, revealing that between 10:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., recordings from certain cameras had been deleted or overwritten.

It was also stated that the airport’s surveillance system retains footage for 28 to 30 days, raising concerns that critical evidence might soon be permanently deleted. The citizen urged authorities to secure the original CCTV recordings.

He requested that the footage be examined by the Punjab Forensic Science Agency or NADRA’s video forensics lab to verify possible tampering, and that a preservation report be submitted to the trial court.
