A significant shift in the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is underway, with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) poised to replace the current administration. Sources say the change originates from the party’s top leadership, led by Bilawal Bhutto‑Zardari, with full backing from Asif Ali Zardari. The plan involves tabling a no-confidence motion against the incumbent Premier, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, after internal consultations.
In meetings held both at the PPP Chairman’s office and at the Presidency in Islamabad, the leadership discussed the strategic move to assume the premiership in AJK. According to sources, Bilawal chaired one session and Zardari another, where the decision was given the green light.
The party says it has secured the required majority in the AJK Legislative Assembly and will soon announce its candidate for the top post. PPP leaders insisted the move aims to bring better governance and stronger institutional structures to the region.
