Torkham Border Reopened for Repatriation of Afghan Refugees

Pakistan has reopened the Torkham border crossing to facilitate the return of Afghan refugees, officials confirmed on Friday. The decision came after several days of logistical discussions between Pakistani and Afghan authorities to ensure a safe and orderly repatriation process.
According to border management officials, hundreds of Afghan nationals have already begun crossing back into Afghanistan under government supervision. Additional checkpoints, medical camps, and registration desks have been established to manage the increased flow of people.
Authorities stated that the move aligns with Pakistan’s broader repatriation policy, under which undocumented Afghan refugees are being encouraged to return voluntarily. Humanitarian agencies have also been engaged to provide temporary assistance and transportation support at the crossing.
