Peshawar is set to undergo one of the biggest urban development overhauls in its history, as the provincial leadership has unveiled a Rs100 billion mega package aimed at restoring the city’s identity and upgrading its long-neglected infrastructure.
During a high-level meeting with current and former lawmakers from Peshawar, the Chief Minister outlined a wide-ranging plan focused on infrastructure expansion, modern transport systems, urban renewal, and improved civic services. Officials said the initiative will finally push forward several major projects that have been delayed for years.
According to the announcement, the government aims to improve road networks, enhance drainage and sewerage systems, upgrade public transport, and redesign key parts of the city to revive its historic character. Authorities stressed that Peshawar, being the cultural and political face of the province, can no longer afford developmental delays.
A large public gathering is scheduled for December 7, where the development vision will be presented to citizens and stakeholders. Senior political figures and administrative officers expressed confidence that the Rs100 billion package will mark a turning point for the provincial capital, bringing long-needed modernization and improved living standards.
