Chickenpox has taken an epidemic form in Khairpur, due to which more than 100 children have been affected and three children have died, while an inquiry committee has been formed for investigation.
An unusual increase in chickenpox cases has been reported in various areas of Khairpur including Kunb, Bozdar Wada and Garhi Pul, and so far more than 100 children have been affected by the disease.
The Health Department has taken immediate measures after the alleged deaths caused by chickenpox and has formed an inquiry committee to investigate the deaths of three children.
District Health Officer Dr Barkat Ali has issued instructions to establish isolation wards on an emergency basis in the relevant hospitals across the district, while teams of senior doctors have also been sent to the affected areas to provide immediate medical assistance and monitoring.
Dr Barkat Ali said that all necessary measures are being taken in time to control the situation and parents have been requested to keep their children protected with preventive measures.
