Authorities in Karachi have launched a citywide crackdown on vehicles using illegal, fancy, or non-approved number plates, as part of efforts to improve security and enforce traffic laws.
The operation, carried out by traffic police along with other agencies, targets cars and motorcycles displaying fake, decorative, or unreadable registration plates. Officials say such plates make vehicle identification difficult and pose serious security risks.
Checkpoints have been set up across key areas of the city, where vehicles are being inspected. Police have warned that vehicles without proper number plates or valid documents may be fined, impounded, or face legal action
. The campaign officially began after a grace period given to motorists to install government-approved number plates, with strict enforcement now in place across Karachi.
Authorities have urged citizens to comply with the rules by replacing non-standard plates and carrying valid driving licences to avoid penalties during the crackdown.
