Rawalpindi: Health authorities in Rawalpindi have detected dengue mosquito larvae at 42,200 sites during an ongoing surveillance and prevention campaign aimed at reducing the risk of dengue outbreaks ahead of the peak transmission season.
According to officials, inspection teams conducted extensive monitoring across residential areas, commercial zones, construction sites, and other locations where stagnant water can accumulate. The presence of larvae was identified in thousands of indoor and outdoor spots, prompting immediate preventive measures and awareness activities.
Health authorities stated that anti-dengue teams have intensified efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds through fumigation, larviciding, and community outreach programs. Residents have been urged to regularly inspect their homes and surroundings, remove standing water, and ensure water storage containers remain properly covered.
Officials warned that recent weather conditions, including rainfall and humidity, can create favorable environments for mosquito breeding, increasing the risk of dengue transmission if preventive measures are not maintained. Special attention is being given to high-risk areas where repeated larvae detections have been reported.
The district administration has called on citizens to cooperate with health teams and follow public health guidelines to help curb the spread of dengue. Authorities emphasized that community participation remains a key component of the broader strategy to prevent outbreaks and protect public health.
