The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) has entered into a long-term 20-year partnership with Hassan Suleman Memorial Hospital to expand advanced cardiac care services in Malir, Karachi. The agreement aims to improve access to emergency and specialized heart treatment for residents of the area and surrounding regions.
Under the collaboration, NICVD will support the hospital in strengthening its cardiology services, including emergency cardiac response, diagnostic facilities, and treatment for heart patients. The initiative is expected to reduce the burden on major NICVD centers in Karachi by decentralizing services and bringing care closer to local communities.
Health officials stated that the partnership will help improve 24/7 cardiac emergency response, particularly for heart attack patients where timely treatment is critical. The agreement also includes capacity building for medical staff, training programs, and technical support from NICVD specialists.
Authorities highlighted that Malir has long faced challenges in accessing specialized cardiac care, and this project is expected to significantly improve survival rates by ensuring faster medical intervention.
