The Punjab government has announced a fivefold increase in the cash prize for top-performing matriculation students, raising the reward from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 100,000. The announcement was made by Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat while releasing the 2026 matric examination results.
According to the minister, the enhanced cash award is aimed at recognizing academic excellence and encouraging students to achieve higher standards in their studies. The increased incentive will apply to top position holders across Punjab’s educational boards.
The government also highlighted broader education reforms, including improved transparency in the examination system, synchronized result announcements, and the introduction of digital initiatives to modernize board examinations.
Officials said the higher cash prize reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to rewarding merit and supporting outstanding students as they continue their educational journey.
