The Chairman of the Karachi Technical Board, Musharraf Ali Rajput, visited some of the examination centers in the city unexpectedly, including the Korangi and Landhi centers (PSIT). During the inspections, the students were found to be complaining on poor ventilation as well as lighting systems and the top official took immediate action.

Rajput along with Controller of Examinations Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, Vigilance Officer Farnaz Munir, Zohaib Ahmed Khan and Professor Ashfaq Baig directed center superintendents to fix the problems immediately. He pointed out that fans and adequate lighting should be provided to ensure a conducive environment to candidates.

Rajput, on the visit, said that the welfare of students during exams is not negotiable. “It is not a knowledge test we are administering but rather we are in charge of the environment these students are sitting in.”

The visit was in the context of the wider decision of the board to uphold transparency and quality when technical examinations were involved. The officials monitored administrative arrangements, attendance mechanisms and also made sure that the exam procedures were being adhered to strictly.

Karachi Technical Board has vowed to carry on with these surprise visits even during the exam period. Board insiders said the idea is to do away with negligence and make sure that all students are provided the basic facilities so that they can give their best.
