The National Institute of Health has issued an alert in view of the risk of infectious diseases spreading due to heavy rains and flooding.

‎Provincial governments and district administrations have been directed to remain on high alert during the monsoon season.

‎Standing water after heavy rainfall can lead to the spread of dengue and malaria, while contaminated water may cause cholera and typhoid. Floodwater can also contribute to the spread of dangerous infections.

‎The risk of loss of life has also increased due to lightning strikes and the collapse of walls and roofs. Citizens have therefore been advised to avoid taking shelter near walls, old buildings, and trees, and to stay away from floodwater and fallen electricity wires.

‎In addition, authorities have emphasized the need to intensify spraying campaigns to eliminate mosquitoes.
