The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi has introduced a digital examination marking system aimed at improving transparency, accuracy and efficiency in the checking of students’ answer sheets.
Board Chairman Professor Dr. Iqbal Mahmood confirmed the launch on Wednesday after mock exercises involving education officers, college principals and examination controllers from across the division.
Under the new system, several stages of the examination process will be managed digitally, including paper setting, answer-sheet printing, trimming, scanning and online evaluation through a centralized dashboard. Electronic candidate sheets and QR-code-based attendance tracking will also be introduced.
The QR-code system will help verify the attendance of students and examination staff. Meanwhile, the board’s Command and Control System will monitor examination centres through real-time video surveillance.
To prepare for the new system, district-level training sessions for teachers and other relevant staff are expected to begin immediately. The training will help them understand the digital marking process before upcoming board examinations.
The initiative aims to reduce marking errors, strengthen monitoring and make the examination process more efficient. However, its effectiveness will depend on proper implementation, staff training and reliable digital systems.
