Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar, paid a visit to the CyberKnife Unit at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in Karachi.
According to details, Justice Ghaffar was welcomed by Mushtaq Chhapra, Shabbir Diwan, Professor Tariq Mahmood, and others upon his arrival. During the visit, he inspected the Radiation Oncology Section of JPMC and lauded the collaborative efforts of the Patients’ Aid Foundation and the Sindh government.
A presentation was given to the Chief Justice highlighting recent developments at Jinnah Hospital. It was revealed that the hospital has expanded from 1,185 beds to 2,208 over the past 13 years. Additionally, a 12-story Sardar Yasin Malik Medical Complex is under construction and will add 550 more beds.
The presentation also noted that the completion of the 7-story Rabia Rashid Surti Ward will make Jinnah Hospital the largest medical institution in Pakistan. All facilities at the hospital are provided completely free of cost, without discrimination.
So far, patients from 15 countries and 167 cities have received diagnosis and treatment at Jinnah Hospital. The latest CyberKnife machine can complete treatment in just 23 minutes compared to the 150-minute duration of the 2012 model and 60 minutes for the 2018 version.
The Chief Justice praised the Sindh government’s provision of advanced healthcare, calling it “a ray of hope for cancer patients.” He urged other institutions to follow this model and provide the public with free and quality healthcare.
