Experts have identified three common signs appearing in the human body that may indicate the risk of a life-threatening condition such as stroke.
According to general medical understanding, there are two types of stroke. One is a brain hemorrhage, in which a blood vessel in the brain bursts, while the second type occurs when an artery supplying blood to the brain becomes blocked, leading to a lack of oxygen and damage to the brain.
If a stroke patient does not receive immediate treatment, the risk of death increases significantly, which is why it is important to monitor the factors and symptoms that raise the risk of stroke.
Research conducted by the Jiang University School of Medicine in China found that loss of muscle mass, weak hand grip, and slow walking speed may indicate an increased risk of stroke in an individual.
The study stated that people with reduced muscle strength face up to a 30 percent higher risk of any type of stroke. Similarly, weak hand grip increases the risk of stroke by up to 7 percent, while slow walking speed raises the risk by up to 64 percent.
The research examined data from more than 480,000 individuals. All participants were free from stroke at the beginning of the study, and their health was monitored over several years.
The findings revealed a connection between reduced muscle mass, weak hand grip, slower walking speed, and a higher risk of stroke.
