Karachi’s Changing Winds Bring Heat by Day, Chill by Night — Air Quality Worsens
Karachi’s weather continues to shift as the city experiences a mix of hot days and cool nights, with the sun maintaining its strong grip. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature is expected to rise up to 37°C today, keeping daytime conditions warm and humid.
However, while the winds have changed direction, the city’s air quality has once again deteriorated. Environmental data shows 108 particulate matter (PM) levels recorded in Karachi’s atmosphere — a range considered “unhealthy for sensitive groups.” Experts say the combination of heat, stagnant air, and pollution from vehicles and industries has made breathing conditions difficult, particularly during rush hours.
Health experts have advised citizens, especially children, the elderly, and people with respiratory problems, to wear masks and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure. They also stress the need for planting more trees and reducing emissions to improve the city’s air quality.
Meanwhile, Karachiites continue to brace themselves for high temperatures during the day and the increasing impact of air pollution on daily life.
