Two more polio cases have been reported from the areas of Bannu and North Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, bringing the total number of cases in Pakistan this year to 3.

‎The laboratory of the National Institute of Health has confirmed the presence of wild poliovirus in both children. The affected include a 5 month old infant and a 2 year old girl.

‎Earlier this year, the first polio case was reported from Sindh’s district Sujawal.

‎According to the National Emergency Operations Center, a special anti-polio campaign will be carried out in selected districts of the country during the current month, with a target to administer polio drops to approximately 19 million children.

‎Authorities have appealed to parents to ensure their children receive polio drops so that complete eradication of this disease can be made possible.
