Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is facing growing health concerns as new mpox cases emerge and dengue infections continue to spread across the province. Health authorities are monitoring the situation and urging residents to take preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection.
Four new mpox cases have been reported in the province, including one woman and three men. Two patients are from Nowshera, while Peshawar and Mardan have reported one case each. None of the patients reportedly had a history of international travel, raising concerns about possible local transmission. The patients have been advised to isolate at home, while health officials are tracing their contacts and monitoring the spread of the disease.
Dengue infections are also increasing, with Peshawar and Kohat among the affected districts. According to the reported figures, the provincial dengue tally has exceeded 5,000 cases. Kohat has recorded the highest number, followed by Peshawar. Health authorities are continuing surveillance and preventive activities to control the spread of mosquito-borne infections.
Residents have been advised to remove standing water from homes and surrounding areas, cover water-storage containers and use mosquito protection. People should also avoid close contact with suspected mpox patients and seek medical advice if symptoms develop.
Mpox symptoms may include fever, body aches, swollen lymph nodes and skin rashes. Dengue commonly causes fever, headache and muscle or joint pain. Early medical assessment is important, particularly if symptoms become severe.
