The Pakistan Stock Exchange witnessed a positive trading session, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining 368 points to close at 169,969 points. The market remained volatile during the session, with the index climbing as much as 1,892 points at one stage to reach 171,492 points.

Trading activity also remained strong, with more than 590 million shares changing hands during the session. The total value of shares traded was reported at around Rs20 billion, reflecting significant activity among investors.

Market experts attributed the positive trend to expectations of progress in negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), along with increased buying interest in equities. Improved expectations surrounding the discussions with the IMF helped support investor sentiment, while higher demand for shares contributed to the overall gains.

The session highlights continued investor focus on economic developments and external financing discussions. Market movements are likely to remain closely linked to developments on the economic and policy front, as investors assess the potential impact of IMF-related progress on Pakistan’s financial markets.
