KARACHI: The All Sindh Private Schools and Colleges Association has rejected the newly revised school timings announced by the Sindh government, calling the extended schedule difficult to implement under existing conditions.
The association has urged the Sindh government to reconsider the new timetable and introduce a schedule that takes into account the practical circumstances faced by students, teachers, parents and private educational institutions.
Association Chairman Haider Ali has requested Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah to review the revised timings. The association also called for uniform school timings for students studying in government and private institutions across the province.
The Sindh School Education Department recently revised school timings for government schools, with the new schedule coming into effect from August 6, 2026. The revised timetable includes different timings for single- and double-shift schools.
According to the association, implementing extended school hours under the current circumstances could create practical difficulties for schools and families. It has therefore called for further consultation between the government and private school representatives before the new schedule is fully implemented.
The association has asked the Sindh Education Department to consider local conditions and issue a revised timetable that is practical for all stakeholders.
The development comes after the Sindh government also introduced a six-day working week, with public and private educational institutions directed to operate from Monday to Saturday from August 1 until further orders.
