The Punjab Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) have announced the 2026 Matric (10th Class) results, revealing a close competition between students from private and government schools. While outstanding performers emerged from both sectors, private schools produced a larger share of the overall position holders across the province, continuing a trend seen in recent years.
According to the compiled results released by the Punjab education boards, students from leading private institutions secured most of the top three positions in several BISEs, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Sahiwal. Government schools, however, also delivered impressive performances, with several students earning top positions and proving that public-sector education continues to produce high achievers.
Education experts say private schools often benefit from smaller class sizes, greater academic support, and extensive exam preparation programs. At the same time, many government schools have shown remarkable improvement due to better teacher training, upgraded facilities, and merit-based initiatives introduced by the Punjab government.
Officials praised all position holders and emphasized that the success of government school students demonstrates the positive impact of ongoing education reforms. They added that continued investment in public education is helping narrow the performance gap between government and private institutions.
The 2026 Matric results also highlighted the strong academic performance of students across Punjab, with thousands securing A+ grades and high marks. Education authorities congratulated the successful candidates and encouraged students who did not achieve their desired results to continue working hard for future examinations.
