The Punjab Department of Special Education has officially declared Saturday a weekly holiday for all special education institutions across the province, in addition to the regular Sunday holiday.
According to an official notification, all schools and training centers for persons with disabilities will remain closed every Saturday. The new directive will be implemented from next week.
Copies of the notification have been sent to all District Education Officers (DEOs) and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) to ensure immediate compliance with the new policy.
Officials stated that the decision aims to provide relief and convenience to both students and staff, allowing them additional time for rest, preparation, and personal well-being.
With this decision, all special education institutions in Punjab will now operate five days a week, marking a change from the previous six-day schedule when classes were held on Saturdays.
