The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to convene today (Sunday, August 24) to attempt sighting the Rabi-ul-Awwal moon, which will determine the date for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him). The meeting in Karachi is set to take place after Asr prayers at the Meteorological Department office in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, under the leadership of Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad .

Joining him are representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, SUPARCO, the Meteorological Department, and the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as members of the committee . Meanwhile, zonal and district-level committees in Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, and other cities are holding parallel sittings to gather sighting testimonies .

Following this network of observations, Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad will make the final announcement regarding whether the moon has been sighted .

Should the crescent be confirmed, Eid Milad-un-Nabi—marking the birth of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him)—will be observed on Friday, September 5 .
