Dense fog continued to affect routine life across major cities of Pakistan on Thursday, significantly reducing visibility and causing major travel disruptions. The heavy fog led to hazardous driving conditions and forced authorities to suspend traffic on several key motorway routes.
According to the Motorway Police, multiple sections of the motorway were shut down due to extremely poor visibility. The affected routes include M-1 from Peshawar to Swabi, M-4 from Shershah to Shamskot, M-5 from Shershah to Rohri, and the M-11 from Lahore to Sambriyal. Motorists were advised to avoid unnecessary travel.
Officials stated that thick fog has also disrupted traffic flow on several parts of the national highway. Long queues of vehicles and slow movement were reported as drivers struggled with near-zero visibility.
Authorities urged citizens to stay updated on traffic advisories, drive with fog lights, and use alternative routes when necessary. They added that travel should be avoided at night and early morning until weather conditions improve.
