In view of the flood situation, the Punjab Healthcare Commission has issued a health emergency alert for private hospitals.
According to the alert, immediate measures should be taken to ensure continuity of treatment and medical facilities, 35% of the total bed capacity should be allocated for flood affected patients, and free treatment should be provided.
The Punjab Healthcare Commission’s notice stated that emergency wards, ICUs, and HDUs must remain fully functional, and arrangements for essential medicines, vaccines, blood, medical devices, and backup power supply must be ensured.
The notice also directed hospitals to have evacuation plans ready in case of emergencies and to maintain close coordination with Rescue 1122 and other agencies for the transfer of flood affected patients.
The Punjab Healthcare Commission warned in the notice that disciplinary action will be taken against hospitals that fail to comply with these instructions.
