Karachi police have uncovered disturbing details in the case of a minor girl found dead in Surjani Town. The body of 11-year-old Asiya was discovered hanging from the rooftop of a residence in Sector 51. Initial postmortem findings suggest signs of sexual assault and strangulation.
According to Police Surgeon Dr. Sumaiya, biological and chemical samples have been preserved for DNA profiling and toxicology analysis. While verbal communication from the medico-legal officer (MLO) indicated strangulation as the cause of death, confirmation of sexual assault is pending the final written report.
SHO Irfan Asif stated that a formal FIR will be registered once the complete postmortem report is received. The deceased was handed over to her family following the examination, and burial rites have been completed.
