The Punjab Education Department has announced strict new rules for students in government colleges, introducing penalties for academic failure and absenteeism.

According to the official notification, any student receiving an “F” grade in two or more subjects will no longer qualify for forwarding to the admission board. The decision aims to raise educational standards and ensure students meet a minimum level of academic performance.

The notification also imposes fines for absences. Students missing an examination paper will be fined Rs. 200 per paper, while missing monthly tests will result in a Rs. 100 fine per paper. Failure to attend an exam without a valid medical certificate will be treated as a failure.

Additionally, all students must appear in monthly, December, and pre-board examinations, as participation in these assessments has been made mandatory across Punjab’s government colleges. The move underscores the department’s commitment to enforcing academic discipline and improving overall student performance.
