A proposal has been presented to allocate more than Rs81 billion for 24 new health schemes in Punjab.
According to details, Rs26.45 billion has been proposed for health schemes in the 2026-27 fiscal year, while the remaining funds will be released over the coming years.
A proposal has been made to establish the Maryam Nawaz Institute of Cardiology in Gujranwala, for which Rs14 billion has been recommended.
It has also been proposed to establish the Maryam Nawaz Medical College and Teaching Hospital in Mianwali, while a total allocation of Rs23.37 billion has been recommended for the establishment of the Bahawalpur Children’s Hospital.
Recommendations have also been made for the establishment of the Kulsoom Nawaz Cancer Hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan and for the reconstruction of the AVH Block at Mayo Hospital with an allocation of Rs3.5 billion.
A proposal has been made to allocate Rs3 billion for the restoration of the OPD at Mayo Hospital Lahore. A total of Rs2.48 billion has been recommended for the oncology unit at Bahawal Victoria Hospital in Bahawalpur, while a project for an emergency theatres complex at a hospital in Sargodha has also been proposed.
Recommendations have been made to establish filter clinics in hospitals in Rawalpindi, while the waiting areas at Holy Family Hospital and Benazir Bhutto Hospital in Rawalpindi are expected to cost Rs170 million.
It has been recommended to allocate Rs952.7 million for the construction of a pharmacy store at Lahore Children’s Hospital, Rs1.27 billion for the upgradation of the pathology department at Children’s Hospital, Rs304.2 million for the expansion of healthcare facilities at Multan Children’s Hospital, Rs340 million for the restoration of the Neuro Ortho Block at Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital in Gujrat, Rs300 million for a new block at De’Montmorency College of Dentistry Lahore, and Rs70 million for lifts in the emergency and gynecology blocks of Services Hospital Lahore.
Recommendations have also been made to allocate Rs1.75 billion for four neuro cath labs in Punjab hospitals, Rs1.65 billion for new equipment in the emergency block of Faisalabad Cardiology Hospital, Rs2 billion for essential equipment in tertiary care hospitals, Rs1.06 billion for two MRI machines at hospitals in Lahore and Gujrat, Rs100 million for the health management system at Jinnah Institute of Cardiology, Rs100 million for the OPD system at Rawalpindi Cardiology Institute, Rs328 million for advanced machinery at the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences, and Rs500 million for the completion of unfinished projects and clearance of tax liabilities.
