The Sindh government has approved the introduction of a facial recognition attendance system in public schools to improve teacher attendance, enhance accountability, and strengthen monitoring across the education sector. The digital initiative forms part of the provincial government’s wider education reform programme aimed at increasing transparency through technology.

The new system will use facial recognition technology to verify the identity of teachers and staff at the time of attendance, eliminating the possibility of proxy attendance and reducing administrative errors. Attendance data will be automatically uploaded to a centralized monitoring system, enabling education authorities to track attendance in real time.

Officials believe the initiative will improve teacher punctuality, ensure regular classroom instruction, and strengthen overall school management. The government also plans to provide technical support and training to schools before the system is fully implemented across the province.
